I think I just caught my work mate in a lie. He said he had a monkey that had seven babies. Has anyone ever heard of this? I thought Monkeys were like people and usually only have 1 or 2. I know people are capable of having 7 babies but usually only when they are artificially inpregnated.

No it's not a sea monkey. He said his father works at the zoo and brought it home.

He apparently brought it home because it was sick and he is a vet. This supposedly took place in Switzerland.

You didn't catch your workmate in a lie, he was probably pulling your leg to see if you were gullible or not. Zoo's don't let people who work there take home animals and most certainly not an exotic one in the first place. Secondly, you are correct on the number of babies that primates have.
Thirdly, the people here are trying to do the same thing to you by talking about sea monkeys, because they are not monkeys at all..but a species of brine shrimp.
Lastly..google...use it, love it. ;-)

You are right. Monkeys do resemble the human in many ways, including fertility. It is very rare for monkeys to have more than 1 or 2 babies at a time. If a monkey had seven babies, it would have made the news I bet :P

You're right that 7 babies is too many for a monkey. Also, you should be suspicious if he says his father brought one home from a zoo. A zoo wouldn't just let someone (even if they're an employee) take an animal home.

Maybe the monkey had invitro fertilization and that is why there were so many. Ask him to show you a picture of this if he can. I came here to thank you for your answer to my question about New Zealand and for the cool web site. I have been down to New Zealand twice. Once for 3 weeks on North Island and once for 3 weeks on South Island. I really want to get back again and maybe spend a couple of months in one area. We pretty much drove all over both islands when we were there. We were there in November both times. We liked Hahei and the Bay of Islands on North Island and Curio Bay and the Nelson area on South Island. The exchange rate was awesome when we went .43 NZ for 1 dollar US. That has changed substantially. We took tons of pictures down there and hopefully I can get my husband to post some of them up on my 360 page someday. Have an awesome day down there!

Probably he has a sea-monkey. A sea-monkey has up to 20 babies at a time.
