The BIOS is looking at the hard drive boot record to tell it where the operating system is. If you've recently had a crash, your boot record may be damaged. Use the recovery/installation CD for the operating system that came with your computer to either try fixing the error or use a retail program such as Norton Utilities to get you to a DOS prompt to run recovery options. If you are not familiar with recovering a potentially corrupted boot record, take the computer to your local guru/geek/nerd to have it looked at. There is a possibility your information is still recoverable. Then again, if the crash was quite severe, your hard drive/motherboard/other component may require replacing.
Diagnosing problems with limited information and one-way communication tends to lead to very generalized answers. Unfortunately without knowing specifics and without tools of the trade, it's difficult to know what can be done for your situation.

Safe Mode is part of the operating system. If you are getting that message Safe Mode is not the answer. If you have a floppy drive, first make sure there is no floppy in the drive. Depending on what OS is installed you will have some slightly different options. If you have Windows XP and have the CD or can borrow one you can normally boot from CD and it will have some repair options. With earlier versions of windows you would use a boot disk (in a floppy drive).

Turn off PC either plug out the battery or just the main off button
Turn on pc BUT Keep the F8 key pressed
This will allow u to access the area where you can change settings and edit to last config
BUT
Be sure you know the consequences of dis action as it will revert to the last date configuered which could be months ago and all date will be lost from then..
If its a sony they are the best if you cant get it up and running they have a great support systems Call them direct.. it no luck

I agree with Bill and simon. Safe mode won't help you(but it is F8).
How I would suggest to fix the problem:
Put your OS cd(i assume XP) into your computer(the cd that has the os on it and SP1 or SP2). Then restart your computer. After it begins to start up again press F12 repeatedly to enter the one time boot menu, to try to reinstall windows. If it doesn't work, you need another HD, or find some way to erase all data to try installing the OS again.

If it says "no working equipment" then the complicatedcontinual isn't being study wisely. you may desire to have the skill to study the complicatedcontinual as nicely up in the two well-known or secure mode. maximum customary reason is a undesirable connection. Did you bump, drop, or jolt the computer earlier this befell? Disconnect the complicatedcontinual, blow some canned air on the connectors, reconnect. that often resolves the concern. in case you're no longer soft doing that, take it to artwork and bribe the workplace techie geek with a six p.c.. of a sturdy microbrew.

Did you get any CDs to reprogram it with, when it was new? My laptop came with 3 CDs in case something like what happened to yours happened. Did you make a backup disc when you first got it? If you did, you should be able to use that. If you have the 800 number for tech support for the brand of laptop you have, they can help you over the phone. Sometimes on their website, they have troubleshooting info, also.

No Operating System Found means the hard drive either is not being found by the Bios, or is dead. I'm sorry, but you will have to take this to a tech to be sure.
