CGI is the new wave of animation. I think Pixar is the one making classic animation now.
But Pirates and Narnia were both wonderful films, which I hope Disney will keep the ball rolling in terms of quality and imagination like that.

Yeah, well you're pretty stupid too. Princess And The Frog is a modern Disney princess movie. One day the movies Disney is producing now will be classics. They just don't seem that way at the moment because they're new & don't measure up to the others, although they're just as good, because of the nostalgia factor older movies have. As technology grows in movies, so do styles. Black & white gave way to Technicolor. Hand drawn gave way to CGI. Your children & children's children will have the movies of our generation to cherish. It's been that way ever since film was invented. People older than you have used the "Why don't they make good movies anymore" speech long before you have.

Thats why they are classics, because they are the best. Most of the classics are actually drawn by hand. Now a days they just use a computer for everything. And the reason we don't see anymore like what you listed is because no one has come up with a good story that is different but traditional like the classics....if that even makes sense.

My father was selected by Walt Disney to be the voice of Brer Bear in "Song of the South." His voice is on Splash Mountain. Times were different then and Walt Disney was still alive. My dad used to say that some people love "dead" names and that if the people whose names are being used were alive to see what is being done in their names they would be very disappointed. Changes are taking place in every aspect of the entertainment industry... reality shows featuring amateurs, etc., and computer animated graphics take less time and are cheaper to make, so therefore a climate has been created where experienced writers, actors, animation artists, writers, etc., have virtually no where to go.

I don't know.... but I hate it. I would love to see Disney put the classics to animation as they used to. They must have found that people respond better (come to the theaters more) with the computer animation and live action. Anyway, I do miss those old style cartoon movies. I watched "Cinderella" the other day and "Lady and the Tramp", and man they still are sooooooo good. :) Great question!

"Classics" have endured the test of time. It's probably to early to tell if a "present" Disney movie will or not be a classic. I think Toy Story will, Nemo will not, Cars neither, Bugs is already forgotten... But in 10 years we'll know.

Because, at the time those movies were made, they were considered cutting edge. Now that times have changed, movies are being made according to today's technology. Years down the line, we will consider the movies of today classics.
