There is no conclusive evidence, but it is still hotly debated because hormonal birth control itself is questionable and a big social issue. The jury is still out.
As already stated it can take your body a long time to get back to normal after being on hormonal birth control as hormonal birth control suppresses your natural cycle and it can take a while for everything to start working together again in a normal cycle. Essentially it is like repressing back to puberty, there are a lot of things that have to work together to bring about a normal cycle, come off hormonal birth control and everything is left to it's own devices…like a factory that's been out of commission for a while, when the machines are started up again some will warm up quicker than others, some may have problems working as they should, it takes a while for everything to work together again.
A big problem with hormonal birth control is that many doctors use it as a quick fix, either because they are too ignorant to deal with sexual health problems their female patients are suffering or simply too lazy. Many women facing menstrual problems that have the potential to effect fertility are put onto hormonal birth control to suppress the cycle into a normal pattern to mimic a normal cycle, when they come off hormonal birth control again the problems remain and can often be worse than previously. As such this can count as a score against hormonal birth control in terms of whether it can effect fertility.

I'm SO glad I read this question. I had the implant hon and had to have it taken out less than a year aftet having it inserted because of all the problems I was having with it-my ovaries are completely riddled with cysts and as a result my fertility HAS been affected.
My gynaecologist showed me hundreds of case studies about it.
Apparently it was launched on the market without a long term study of the side effects, and those who tried it first weren't given proper gynaecologist exams during the testing. 75% now have fertility problems.
TAKE IT OUT NOW hon.
I'm only 24 and my chances of having children are severely dimished because of 11 months of the implant.
And that's not including the other side effects.....
Message me if you need more halp or have more questions.

I actually have a similar feeling approximately no longer having the flexibility to get pregnant even tho i know im healthy and that i can so it rather is not extraordinary yet utilising emc alot can mess with your hormones and positioned them out of whack that could mess with your fertility so i choose to propose in case you do no longer choose to get pregnant use condoms and get on bc pills additionally taking those for to long can mess with your fertility so be careful

My sister in law caught for her 4 baby on implants, i myself caught while breastfeeding and on mini pill , i also caught on the full pill.Ive been on the pill between babies for16 years and if i stopped the pill tomorrow i bet id catch with in 3 weeks, so i dont think that they affect your fertility, but you have to wait for you body to rebalance its self and its hormones before you may be able to catch.I know sexual diseses can affect fertility though.I have been very lucky that im very fertile i guess and have no diseses as ive only ever had one partner.

I was on the pill for years and didnt have a period for 8 months after i came off it----the doc told me to go back on it to regulate my body---which is such crap as the periods u have when on pill arnt real as your not ovulating---i think much more research should be done on the pill, as lots of women seem to have similar complaints----Im not on pill now and havent beenn for months and havent got pregant. The pill first came out in the sixties, so dont think much is known about it or researched then, after all, the medical practice didnt realize smoking was bad for you at this point so how savvy were they in the sixties???

It's not supposed to but it can take a while for your cycles to resume to normal. I was on the pill for 15 years and went off 1.5 years about to try and concieve and my cycles never went back to normal. All docs say it has nothing to do with the BCP though.
