From what I've read, on average (I can't remember the number) of spiders do end up being swallowed during sleep.
I don't think it's limited to spiders though, I'm sure throughout the course of your life you'll swallow more bugs than just spiders.
Gross? absolutely.
You don't realize it while you're sleeping, so it's not that big a deal, right?

No they do not. they have no reason to even attempt to go down your throat or even in your mouth. Spiders only get on people accidently...they only live to hunt bugs such as flies, gnats and crickets....don't worry someone is pulling your leg...

But seriosly...I was once told that dust mites hang out on your tounge at night. They poop on your toungue and that's what gives you bad breath. But then again, this was from a man trying to sell me an air purifyer.

ABSOLUTELY YES! they are attracted by the warm humid environment of your mouth, they usually check out the inner ear first, maybe for a nap or to build a web.
