Real answers only, please. I need to get a sports physical because i want to play tennis for my school. The coach told me to get a physical and my brother has gotten many but for other sports. I know they have to touch your testicles but i am a little embarrased and one time my brother told me that one doctor touched the area above the penis so could i tell the doctor to exam there or is it up to him?

The doctor determines how to perform that particular test. I never cared for the whole sports physical thing either - but it's over fast and the doctors usually understand that it's an uncomfortable situation for the person taking the test. It goes by quick and then you can forget about it and just have fun playing your sport.

Bud,
Two minutes and it is over. No pain is involved. Your doctor has seen all there is to see. So do not worry about it for a second. They just want to make sure you are one hundred percent so you can perform your best. It may feel like a tie breaker in the third set for a second, but you will forget about it the second you leave. It will be OK , no weird stuff will happen during the physical. Do not be afraid to ask your doctor any questions you have before the exam begins. It is a lot easier then all the wind sprints you will have to run once the season begins. Good luck and it will be fine.

It is natural o be embarrased, you are human.
About school exams:
Doctors can not force patients to do things they do no want to do.
Just use google and search the keywords "rutherford" and "exam" and "genital". Some of the kids wake up in the middle of the night shouting "but I said NO!", and the Doctor claims it was in the kids "best interest"!!!.
The Doctor paid for her actions. People think that exams are mandatory, they are not by LAW, and Doctors think they are Gods, but they are not. Doctors should have classes about privacy, laws, and physiology, not only classes about body functions.. Most parents and kids, are not aware that they can deny doing the exam. It was a good thing justice was made, but that only happened because the victims were girls, that happens to boys all the time and no one cares.

In a sports physical and non sports physicals they do check your prostate. And yes, that is bending over and coughing as the doctor will tell you. I know it is embarrassing but consider it a right of passage if you must..lol. They have to check to make sure that everything is okay. You CAN tell your doctor not to check there but my best guess would be that he/she will simply tell you that they cannot complete the physical or fill out your forms if you don't comply. It's perfectly normal and every boy and man has and will at one point in time have to go through it. Sadly, women must suffer a more embarrassing check up. So proudly consider yourself lucky! Hope this helps and Good Luck with your tennis. =)

I just got my physical yesterday, it aint mich, we all got them. Not much to be embarrased about. Think or A. Rod Or Julius Jones, they all got physicals. You cant avoid it, just drop those pans and it'll be done in less than twenty seconds. :)
