In the US, you're best off learning Spanish, especially if you live in the Southwestern states.
If you're looking to get into international business at some point in your life, German and Japanese are your best bets.
I personally speak enough Spanish to get myself in trouble, and am in the process of learning Japanese, in the hopes that I can transfer over there at some point in the future.

I really want to learn Spanish. My girl friend is from Venezuela so naturally she and her family all speak it. I recently went down to Venezuela with her and while I had a good time, I think I could had a better time if I spoke the language,

Mandarin Chinese. It's a quickly evolving economy with a very large population. You'd go to the People's Republic of China, including Taiwan to practice it. But increasingly, such speakers are coming the US, so you can more easily find such speakers here.

I learned italian in university because it sounded so melodic and romantic. Who wouldn't want to go to Italy to practice?
