Don't ask her out. That is a massive mistake.Tell her you have feelings for her and you have struggled with your feelings for some time now. You will always be there for her as a friend and you hope when she is ready she will contemplate dating you.

I hate to tell you this but you don't. The reason for is obvious give her a little time, better yet, take her out or ask her to a movie. She will gradually lean on you for support. But don't go to far or she will just think of you as a friend. Let her know you are intrested in her and for her to call you. If you make that much of an effort she is bound to love you. GOOD LUCK!

Without wanting to answer you question by asking another...It all depends on how long ago they split up and how serious the relationship was. It maybe best to play it easy for now and just get to know her better as a friend, then go for it when it seems right.

I would suggest that you aproach it gently as a friend being prepared for the fact that she may reject your invitation.

You could go along the lines of acknowledging the fact that she is no longer with her boyfriend and that you would appreciate the opportunity of taking her out. Do try to make it something special and fun but don't get too heavy.

Hope that makes sense and good luck, have a wonderful time.

Wait, tell her you are interested but realise she has just split up and you don't want to be with her on the rebound-just register your interest in becoming more than friends and wait until she is ready.
Good luck !
