I am taking birth control to control my periods and most of my friends told me you will start having cravings than gain weight. I did not gain weight when I was on it but I suddenly stopped taking them and my periods became heavy again, with the cramping and now I am craving food, especially sweet stuff. I know I am not pregnant because I am still a virgin. Does anyone know what is going on?

When you're on the pill, you're not actually getting your period. You're getting an estrogen withdrawal bleed. So when you go off the pill, your cycle goes back to being an actual menstrual cycle and so therefore, you have the hormonal swings and food cravings. It's totally normal.

When I stopped taking birth control my periods became a lot heavier and not as regular as they were when I was on them. I always crave sweets esp. chocolate at that time of the month. I think I heard somewhere that chocolate releases endorphins in your brain that help with the pain of period cramps. It may take a few months, but eventually your body will get back to normal.
