u better give me 10 pts for this....
1) find the common denominator of all
4, 3, 12, and 8 = the common denominator is 24...
2) then 7 3/4 = 25/4 = 150 / 24 (4*6 = 24)
[just multiply the numbers by 6 since to get 24, u do 6 * 4 ]
6 1/3 = 19/ 3 = 152/ 24 (3* 8 = 24)
7 5/12 = 89/ 12 = 178/ 24
5 5/8 = 45/ 8 = 165 / 24
so 178/ 24, 165 / 24, 152/ 24 , 150/24
the answer is....
7 5/12
5 5/8
6 1/3
7 3/4

I hope Yahoo girl gets negative points for giving you a terribly incorrect answer. The numbers go from smallest to largest because you start with the far left numbers (5,6,7,7) and you have a beginning order. Then you have to find which 7 goes first so you figure out the common denominator of 5/12 and 3/4 which is 12 and you change 3/4 into 9/12 (by dividing 12 by 4, which is 3, and multiplying that number by the top number of 3/4 which gets you 9(3*3)). So 9/12 is bigger than 5/12 because the nine is bigger than the 5 so the last 7's go from smallest to largest: 7 5/12 and last 7 3/4 (which is also 7 9/12). Hope this isn't confusing to you and helps to explain the entire process of fractions.

5 5/8
6 1/3
7 5/12
7 3/4
5 is less than 6, 6 is less than 7, less than 7 1/2 is less than 7 3/4
7 3/4 is like $7.75 and 7 5/12 is a little over $7.40
