Start thinking about it seriously. Start going to websites like http://www.fastweb.com and looking up scholarships as well. It really does come fast. Heck, it feels like just yesterday I was starting high school. Yeesh...those were the days. It might seem like you have forever, but just remember that there are kids your age right now already applying for scholarships and figuring out what they want to do. Any who, join as many clubs as you can. Get involved, make friends, and have fun!!!

Start hitting the books, the next 3 years are crucial (beginning sophomore year) and when you start earning credits to graduate high school . Fatten up your high school transcripts with extra curricular activities, sports, drama, etc. Take the tough courses if you are able to ace it, get involved in the community. You are bound to get a scholarship for something or other. Going to college, business school, tech school is going to make living financially so much easier in your adult years! You will be glad you sucked it up and persevered! You don't want to end up making minimum wage for the rest of your life. Working 40 hours a week full time being paid minimum wage less taxes *30% of your earnings you will only bring home about $140 a week. Do the math, how can anyone live off that? You can't even get a 1 bed room apt or an efficiency for that little bit! Food for thought!

At this point you should be thinking about developing a four year plan for your high schol experience. Planning what courses you want to take in high school now will make course planning a lot easier later in high school (trust me, I know from experience). Think a little about what sort of college you want and what sort of courses/curriculum you will need to get you in. Colleges get and look at your freshman year grades, so don't slack! Yes it is a long way away, but it also comes fast. Oh, and you might want to start taking standardized tests (SAT, ACT, PSAT). Take them once this year and see how you do. That will give you a rough idea where you stand and if you want to invest a lot of time and money into test prep.
So basically, theres no a lot you shouuld be doing right now. Just think about doing well in highschool, try out a test or two, and plan out your high school courses.
Good luck, and have fun in highschool!!!

I know this is cliche, but today is the first day of the rest of your life. Your freshmen year is a major year. Yes, it is time to begin to think past today. This is the year you begin college prep if you haven't already began. Begin by speaking with you counselor, talk about the things that interest you, take test that measure your strengths and weaknesses in different areas.
If you have aspirations of college, sit down with your counselor and arrange your schedule with the classes that will be beneficial to college, you can draft a plan for the next three years.
Decide on a major or at least an idea of one and start to research schools. Remember, to chose a college that will be most beneficial to your major
Keep a close eye on your GPA, do volunteer work and enjoy your high school years

I think you shouldnt really be seriously worrying about college since most colleges don't even care about your freshman year grades.
What I did and what I suggest that you do is to take advangage of what your school has to offer like join clubs take as many AP classes as you can handle and also do a lot of community service. Also maintain a good GPA-that is very important or else you might have regrets later on. I think that if you do all of these things you're going to be all right!
Good luck!

You should start thinking about it now. Your grades this year will count toward your GPA, and that's a big factor in getting into a good school. If you put it off, you'll regret it later. You'll probably have to take community college courses to improve your GPA or get some of the prerequisites you missed out on. Do it right the first time around. Don't waste your time.

Start now or you will be stuck working at Borders forever being one of those "loser" friends that people see on holidays when the are home from college. Get school done as soon as your out of high school, don't take year off, you'll never go back, you'll end up pregnant or a father before you know it and all your dreams will be smashed. Have a great school year!!

lol, whatever you do, dont listen to worried, he hears voices in his head, dont sweat school, you'll do fine if you just pay attention and do your homework, standardized testing is just something you gotta buy a book or two for, do the practice problems, study the vocabulary, and do your best, start studying around sophmore year and take em your junior year, senior year doesnt really matter, thats when you get to relax (after applications), and for most public schools, freshmen year wont either, but do well to give yourself the best chance...p.s. you wanna go to college, its the best four years of your life (and i've still got 3 left) - UCSB!
