if a democrat made a movie about tapdancing mimes, would republicans start hating tapdancing mimes? (or the other way around)

i didn't ask whether you think it's true or not... i asked when it turned into a partisan political debate

When Al Gore made the movie, and when Bush rejected the Kyoto Protocols.

Because a prominent member of each party has come down on one side of the debate or the other, suddenly people think the debate has some relationship to the party platform.

BTW, nice analogy. I completely agree.

This administration has been in denial that (a) global warming is "real" and (b) if it is, it's a result of human activity. Consequently we are, I believe, the only developed country not to ratify the Kyoto Protocol. We've thus earned the disdain of other nations...and since it's a Republican administration, they are taking the heat (no pun intended). Guilt by association.

The evidence for both a and b (above) has been available for decades. Anyone still in doubt must be walking around with their head in the sand (or up another location, frequently called "cranial-anal inversion"). Gore's movie only brought the data to a broader audience, in more graphic terms. And the poster who mentioned that it's all about money is correct. Republicans accept hefty donations from big business and consequently have to protect it, while the planet self-destructs around us. It's unfortunate that this issue has become so politicized, because it's one that affects us all.

Only the most blind, the most retarded or those making the most profit are claiming global warming doesn't exist.

As for why it's increasing, It's about making money versus doing what's best for the world. Republicans care more about money than about people and Democrats are the opposite.

And yes, almost. They are conditioned to automatically reject anything their opponent favors. Blame the rightwing media for that.

It's really not a lib vs. conservative....the media tries to play it out, but Clinton never sent the Kyoto treaty to congress....he knew it was bad for business, and that the US was going to pay for every other nation to cut emissions. This is why no other nation has even come close to meeting their goals of the treaty. Plus, global warming is not proven that we can reverse it......the earth is heating up...has for centuries......we can't stop it, so instead of wasting money trying to slow it down we should spend the money to adapt to the change.

If you look at the undisputed facts, and by that I mean the facts that even the conservative corporate friendly bought and paid-for “scientists” agree on, you will see there is something alarming going on with our climate.
Look at what the corporate pet “scientists” said about there being no proof that tobacco was linked to cancer. Or are you Neocons too young to remember that? Same tactics are being used here. Look at all the unfortunate folks that believed those lies.
Greedy Wingers have always denied everything that hurts profits, and even worse than them are the sheep that follow along eating up their propaganda, paying with their dollars and their lives.
Well, you won’t have to wait long for the proof on this one. It’s easy and fun to dismiss what you don’t know about or, are afraid to face. It will be too late by the time the sheep are able to see that they have been duped again.

For whatever reason (it's beyond me), cons think that anything the libs say is a lie or is propaganda. So, many of them don't think global warming is real just because Al Gore thinks it's an important issue. Seems to me, you would want to err on the side of treating the Earth well just in case it's true, you know, so there's a planet for your grandkids.

Yes, William J is right. It's about money. The industries earmarked as causing global warming include automotive, manufacturing and chemical.

The right tends to favor decisions in favor of business, while the left tends to favor decisions in favor of the environment.

It became such when people who don't know their butt from their mouth were given the opportunity to be advisors on environmental issues while at the same time being on the payroll of corporations that are destroying the planet with chemicals.

Liberals really don't care about Global Warming, but they like the millions and millions of dollars that the environmentalists give the Democrat Party each election. (Look at the liberals' limos and private jets.... But, they want us to ride bicycles.)

There is always a "money trail". Always follow it.
