The city of san diego is in southern california , like others have said it's near the border, but the county is bigger than the city and includes other cities like, la jolla, carlsbad, chula vista, oceanside, mira mesa, It ends at the north with the military base Camp Pendleton, and goes as far south as the border.

ok it is in southern california. i know i live here. san diego is very big. it is full of different suburbs like carlsbad, mira mesa, chula vista, lemon grove, el cajon, la jolla, del mar, etc. etc. there is so much to do. of course the beachs. all of them are so different though depending on if you are looking for a family beach( mission beach) scenic beach ( la jolla ) or tourism beach ( coranado beach ) many more. it is what you want to do. there is of course two zoos, museums, many malls, sea world, lego land. i can go on and on. i live here and i love it. plus san diego is full of military bases. it is a big military town. if you like to go to mexico you couldnt be any closer to the border. i hope i answered all the questions you might have. have a good time and i hope you love it as much as i do!!!!
