The lady I will work for has Parkingson's. She gets negative at times, and I don't want her to think that way. It makes me sad, and i don't know what to say other then DON'T THINK THAT WAY, THINK POSITIVE. Will you please help me for what other things I can say? Thanks!

So nice that you want to help her find the positive side. The movie "Poly-Anna" (Disney) has lots of great one-liners to pick people up.

Remember, part of her re-conciliating with this disease and mortality is her opening up and sharing her fears. More often than not, when you let a person spill their guts on fears, pains, anger, they themselves will naturally find the positive side. It's just that our society teaches us so many times to hold this stuff in, and by doing so, we never get to face and solve the issues.

Pope John Paul II (Karol Wojtyla) suffered from Parkinson's. Regardless of religion, there is much to learn about how this man handled this disease. His spirit and encouragement for is a wonderful example to share with anyone. There are many books available; you might want to get one (library/ book store).

It's hard to just say some one liners that will make her feel better all around, but just being there for her and telling her though you can not imagine what she's going through you are open to listening to her experiences. You can also try sending her silly ecards or funny attachments, or just funny little things( try getting her mind off of it for a bit). You could tell other people about it or consult with other who have been through a similar thing and either get advice from them or connect her to your friend. It's really all about support, hearing people out and validating what someone going through, and not trivializing what they are going through by comparing. Remember you can only do so much, this is her journey and she is still trying to process it and then she will on her own time comes to terms with it. It is sweet that you care and I know you wish you could take the pain away but what your doing now will count I promise.
Take care and the very best of luck and love to you and your friend

Let her know that because you don't understand what she is going thru, dosen't mean you don't care. Tell her it must be scary but I'm here for you. let her talk about it and just listen. Maybe bring a rose to work or make a special lunch for the two of you. Also let her know they are coming up with new medicines everyday. You have to live the best you can and enjoy all you can while your here. tell here I'm sure theres something that you always wanted to do nows the time to do it...stop thinking your life is over, its not so live and do all the things you've always wanted to do from time to time bring in a little trinket or something to brighten her day.
