I don't want any answers such as, its pay back, or no one should fight. I just want a simple answer. This in reference to a local happening. A month ago 3 black guys pulled a white guy out of his car and beat him, then took his stuff all the while calling him Honkey, these men got simple assault charges, while only a week ago 2 white guys beat a black guy up for bad mouthing a friend in a bar, and they were arrested for a hate crime. Why does one get a hate crime charge, and the other simple assault? Am I the only one here who sees the un-balanced scales of Justus? Has it become a crime in itself to be any other race besides Black?

Ok, I'm black and I gotta agree to some extent. In the death if you attack someone because they are a different color then it is a race crime whichever way it goes. If it is just because of an argument then it is just an assault. The problem is simply that whenever a white person attacks a black person the authorities automatically assign racial motives to the attack. I've had issues with white people before and it had nothing at all to do with race on either side. Hate crime should go both ways not one way. This really has to be corrected at some point or it will only alienate more white people and not all black people want that.

man i feel the same way you do. reverse discrimination is what is called and there is no real explanation as to why the politically correct pricks out there give some people special rights over others i am for equal rights not special treatment. It shouldnt matter if i hit a black guy because he pissed me off or if i hit a white guy for the same reason. Its goddamned rediculous

Because the legal system has yet to acknowledge that prejudism and hate goes both ways. Minorities can and do commit hate crimes. I'm not convinced that category of "Hate Crimes" should exist in our legal system. People don't kill each other or beat each other up because they have fuzzy bunny feelings for each other. People kill and hurt each other because they are full of hate, rage, and pain. So, to punish one assaulter or murder more because they don't like a particular ethnicity isn't just. Who says that someone killing me because I look like their hated sister isn't just as bad or worse?

It doesn't always happen that way, and hate crimes have to satisfy certain statutes of the law.

Current legislation allows federal prosecution of a hate crime only if the crime was motivated by race, religion, national origin, or color.

Sounds like we don't have all the information about both these crimes.

Because in history many whites would beat up blacks because of the color of their skin, where as many blacks would beat up whites for not paying them money they may of owed them, or looking at them funny or something like that.
