Let put it this way, it's about the manufacturer's decision, some decided to leave the program windows-only while some decided to make a mac version of the program.
PCs get HUGE amount of (unknown quality) software.
MAC get small amount of software, but they all have QUALITY, so PCs act just like filters that mac only get GOOD software.
So, nope, Macs don't have a lot of software to run, but how many software do you need when you only have to use one???

true, but misleading.
most prductivity programs have a comparable Mac version, like Microsoft Office, Acode CS2, Macromedia Studio, QuickBooks Pro, etc. also, all IM programs have Mac versions and many games are paralleled on the Mac.
where the mac falls behind software wise is games and almost all point of sale software

Hi,
Only in the computer world will you see something like what we have today.
The operating system that has the worst track record for security risk, crashes and just plain inferior to all others has the largest percentage of use and largest selection of software available.
In my opinion, BIll Gates is NOT a master software architect even though he titles himself to be chief software architect for microsoft.
From what I can tell HE IS THE MASTER snake oil salesman of ALL TIME!
How he managed to get the entire planet caught up in Microsoft is beyond me. Becase of the fact that so many people use Microsoft is why they have the biggest selection of software available. It does not make them the best.
Large complicated programs take years and thousands of man hours to develop. There has to be three completely different development versions to be developed simultaneously in order to run on different platforms. That's a huge expense if there is not much return.

That is true. Thanks to Bill G and mass marketing MS products and systems caught on - software makers had to follow suit and sell to the larger market right?
There is emulation software and even embedded software so you can install and run windows (and therfore pc apps) from within the Mac OS.

Why don't you try reverse engineering on this question. What applications do you want to run and see if the are written for the MAC OS. Chances are the answer is yes especially if your talking about anything to do with graphics.

No, there is plenty of software for both.. especially with the new Mac OS (OSX, and whatever comes next) they support most of the linux software, if you compile it.
(By the way, I'm a PC guy...)

Yes, it's true, but Macs can now run Windows XP, so it's not really true anymore...
