Ok, I live in Monroe, Louisiana, and I attend Neville High School. But for my American History homework, I have to draw a politically correct map showing how to get from Neville to Wal-Mart. The problem is that I don't know all the diffrent streets, and I don't have any transportation to get back and forth so that I can write down all these streets. If you know how to get from Neville to Wal-Mart could you please help me. I have to have this done by tomorrow. Thanx a lot!!!

P.S. If you know what this has to do with American History...please let me know, because I fail to see what a map from Neville to Wal-Mart has to do with History!!!

If you're trying to tell me the directions, please tell me the name of the streets. They must be included in the homework also.

This is what they are teaching you in your first days back to school? I dont see how that has anything to do with american history. Maybe your teacher doesnt know how to get to walmart and is leaving it up to you. Did you ask the teacher why such a strange homework assignment? Oh our poor children!!!!!!!

You can get a map of the city that your high school is in from MapQuest and locate the nearest Walmart to the high school. However, I think the key here is the phrase "politically correct" and the fact that you are in an American History/Government/Politics class.

If you are Caucasian and must get past a Black district and if you must travel on foot you will have to take a roundabout route unless you feel confident that you have nothing to fear. Vice versa if you are a Black who feels the political necessity of avoiding a White area. If it is a matter of public transportation you will need to find out the bus routes. And if you can drive, and things aren't too racially tense there maybe you can drive straight there. Think about what the teacher is looking for in this exercise? Does she want to make the white middle-upper class students to be aware of racial tensions in the city ? What is the history of racial related events in your city ? Or maybe she just wants to know how to get to Walmart or maybe its a way to get her an extra day to plan a real lesson....As your first assignment it probably IS dumb and has no special signifigance, but if you treat the assignment as serious and the teacher with respect she will like you a whole lot better than if you blow it off as nonsense, and that could come in handy later if she has to find an extra point to decide between giving you an "A" or a "B". It's kinda of a little bit of 'sucking up', but as my psychologist says "a little bit of sucking up doesn't hurt"--and unless you blab, no one will be the wiser and call you a "brown noser" or "teacher's pet".

You can look for a Walmart in the Neville area on the internet at Walmart's home page. Then look up a goole map or mapquest.com to get directions from your address or Neville (whichever you need). Copy that map to a piece of paper and you have it. Hope this helps, and I have no idea what that has to do with American History.
