Yes, the Irish claddagh is a symbol of friendship and love. It is a friendship ring, some use it as wedding bands. It is a unisex symbol that quite literally means let friendship reign. They are available in many metals. A silver one would not be as expensive as gold.

Yes. They are traditionally wedding rings. Try eBay. I have seen some great sterling silver ones for very little.
