Some fallacious arguments:

The Iraq war has NOTHING to do with oil.

The 'trickle down' theory

The "domino effect"-- utter bull$hit. (which basically means everyone who died in the vietnam war died in vain)

That a "fetus" is not alive, not a human being, not a person, not a baby (depending on who you are talking to and what era you come from, but still all lies)

....that's all I can think of right now, I'm sure I'll add on some more later when they come to mind.....

(If you want intelligent, mature responses, use the big words, but don't expect too many people to answer you! ........unfortunately this site is dominated by bored, dull teens.)

1." Republicans are the party of smaller government": No Child Left Behind, the Patriot Act, opposition to Lawrence v. Texas all came from the GOP.

2. "Democrats are the party of individual liberty": This is said about the same party that is for gun control, hate speech laws, regulating consensual contractual relationships, and restricting campaign contributions.

3. "The minimum wage helps poor people": it restricts employment among those with the least skills.

4. "Our economy did fine after the last tax cut/ tax hike/ minimum wage increase": The economy is a complicated system, with many things affecting its health. Raising or lowering taxes can be bad for the economy, but others things (like productivity growth) can make up for that damage and lead to positive growth in the aggregate. The same applies for minimum wage increases.

5. "President Bush ruined/saved the economy": Again, the economy is incredibly complex. The President really can't do much by himself to change it. He can suggest legislation which may have marginal affects, but he's not a king or a commissar. The President's abilities to affect the economy are rather limited in comparison to the Chairman of the Fed or the millions of private economic decisions we make every day.

I'll throw a couple out there...

1) Fallacy #1... "The war in Iraq is about oil." Easily the most stupid assumption I've heard. Laying aside partisan issues, if we wanted oil, why not invade Mexico and Venezuela? Closer, lots of oil, and WAY easier to overrun.

2) Fallacy #2... "You're a racist if you oppose illegal immigration." No, it just means that you support the LAW. You know, the law...that pesky set of rules everyone has to follow? For starters, immigrants aren't a race...I'd be just as mad if an illegal immigrant was from Mexico, Poland, Germany, Sweden, or anyplace else. If immigrants want to come here LEGALLY, like my ancestors did, I'll be the first one to say "Welcome" and shake their hand.

3) Fallacy #3..."Conservatives/Republicans are only for the rich." How many times have we heard that tired old cliche'? One of the basic tenets of conservatism is that no matter if rich or poor, to take charge of your own life and to have the right to be as successful as your desire and ability will take you. That's not pro-rich, that's pro-SUCCESS.

I could put up a whole bunch more, but these will do for now.

1. That your vote counts.

2. That we are paying less taxes than before Bush took office. (We are simply delaying paying them by borrowing).

3. That the war in Iraq is going well. (Just listen to the generals who are there)

4. That it's immoral to use an embryo (that will be discarded anyway) to help find cures for diseases.

5. That Fox News is "Fair and Balanced".
