For example, BANG, reading the word bang is only a mere second in present time even though every letter that you read in that word was a moment in present.
So you could say the only present you get, is the future.
We can not see the future, so all we can do is form our pasts, and hope that a well shaped past leads to a well shaped future.
So why live for the moment?
When you dont even know what a the moment will bring, unless you have shaped your past to form your present.
It was your choice to click on this question.
Just imagine if you didnt.
Shaping the past is harder then you think.
P.s
I would not like a lengthy answer stating facts I already know.
*Such as laws of Quantum physics, and mechanics.

as the question is Philosophical in nature it is used to stimulate intelligent conversation .Thhe question is irrelevant as to physics as the Bang is heard only after it happens ,milliseconds of time pass then we hear it .....if we could possibly do so the sound before the bang of a gun is the hammer contacting the cap that
ignites the gas that causes a sound.................
Live for the moment for tomorrow we shall die
bang

Mere present and Omnipresent
"Concern yourself only with the present. By “present” we may be thinking only of the moment. But this is not the present as Divinity sees it. For the Divine, the “present” is what is “Omnipresent”. This means that both the past and future in that “is”- because it is the result of the past and seed of the future. Because man has no faith in the Omnipresence of the Divine, he worries himself about the past, the present and the future. For the Divine these three categories of time do not exist."
__ Sri Sathya Sai Baba said like this
Sathya Sai Baba say that "Omnipresent is not the mere present, it is the past, present and future integrated into one..that is the Omnipresent"
i think we can look upon things through a small hole to see the mere present, we can also look upon things through a larger hole to see front and back of the earlier mere present.
i think most of the practicing astrologers with some 'upasanas' (prayers and meditation) do possess this skill to see through larger holes. when the focus is widened to reach the infinite, their ability to see things from a larger perspective also increase considerably. they get to know lot more things that others have not a clue about....

Consider this:- your question is about living, it is not about strict definitions of past, present and future. You cannot reasonably apply a scientifically precise account of time to 'living time' - if you see what I mean.
In 'living time' there is, it is true, no precise present. But, contrary to what is assumed in your question, there is a 'living present' - and the living present is *all* there is.
You might expect me to now ask, "so why not live for the moment?" - well, here's why not. Because it is possible and quite reasonable for us to anticipate the future and plan for it.
Living for the moment is what the lower animals do. We are higher animals. We have access to memory, reason, and planning for the future. So why not use that access?

The present is the only thing that exists. The past was but has ceased to exist. the future is not but will be and therefore does not yet exist. Concentrate on the now of your life. Philosophy while a marvellous subject can damage your mental health. Too deep and you may flounder.

It's a philosophical principle -- you either live in "memory", meaning you think or worry about the past, or fret about the future, or you free "memory" and live in the now. Obviously, you can't do this all the time, but the trick is to see if you can do it just for a little bit. It is a meditation technique and has calming properties.

Of course theres a "present" in fact thats all there is!
Even as I type this, each bit is already the past, and the future doesn't exist until its the speck of time you are using NOW!!. By then its the present.
WOW!!! now I've got a headache!! VBG

The past and the future are like dreams....you cannot hold on to anything in the past except its memory, and you cant envision the future except in dreams, thus the only reality we control is moment to moment to moment.
