i accidentally discovered my daughters password and have complete access to her e-mail account as well as her my.space account. is it wrong for me to look at her e-mail which i have done. i found a couple of things that i was uncomofrtable with but i hate to confront her because i don't want her to know that i have the access. i set up a fake address and responded to one of her questions with some fatherly advice. is this wrong.

the best thing you did is discover her password!!! U should have had it to begin with!!!

just yesterday in the news they were talking about a 14yr old being raped by several teens she met on myspace.com U DO NEED TO MONITER and TALK to her!!!

i don't care if she's 10,14,17 or 18 if she lives in your house!!! u talk to her!!!
and by the way has anyone spoken to her about the permissible things she should allow with boys....???? if not how would she know what the boundaries are...???

my nephews and nieces have known since 7th grade what is and what isn't allowed ----and i still communicate with them regarding this---to keep their hands to themselves and not to "buy into" the "i love u's ----etc...that come from teens trying to get into your pants!!!!

Probably morally a mistake. Remember your own youth and I'm sure that there was lots of things that you didn't want to share with your parents. As long as she isn't talking about hurting herself or anyone else then I think you should just let it rest. I'm sure that you would not appreciate her invading your private e-mails and accounts. So please allow her to grow up on her own and when she needs and/or wants your advice I'm sure that she'll ask for it. Kids learn lots from their peers and not all of it is correct but they trust people their own age much more than adults. Boy do I ever feel old typing this.

My 16 year old stepdaughter has internet access with the understanding that she is not to meet or otherwise contact anyone she meets on the web (except for email) without permission. We do not read her emails nor monitor her usage as she is nearly an adult now. She has never given us reason not to trust her. We do not have her passwords either,

No you do have the right as a parent to no what you child is doing. Be careful though pick your battles on what you confront her about. You don't want her to no that you have that password, than that way you can always stay one step a head of her

It depends, if she is under age and still in your house, then you have every right to confront her. Saying nothing at all could eventually lead to serious problems later. Explain to her that some people will try to take advantage of her. Or ask her what she does on the computer, and again explain the dangers she could subject herself to. Hope this helps....

As a parent you should know everything that your kids are doing at all times. Our number one priority is to protect them from this evil world. If you feel that you need to talk to her then you should and if she gets made o well. Be the parent and stand your ground.

Nope. I think you should watch that very carefully. Don't you watch Dateline?? There are a lot of sick pervs out there. Or if she gets e-mail about parties and drugs and sex. If I were you, I would stay on that.
