I heard this as a rumor, specifically occuring in North Carolina. Is this actually possible, and if so, who is the sick freak who decided this?

By the way, I'm not bankrupt. I just heard that this happened to a friend of a friend, etc.

If true, that really is lame.

Unfortunately, the laws consider our pets property which means the laws are lax when it comes to protecting them from harm and bankruptcy. If your pets are worth money they can be sold to pay your debts just like other possessions.

I had not heard this before. If pets are siezed then it is pathetic and inhumane. I would advise you to have some friends or family temporarily take care of your pets if you are expecting a visit from the baillifs or expecting an impending bankruptcy.
