My friend had a racoon. They litter trained him and taught him basic commands like, "come" "sit" and "stay."

They got him from the wild, you really cannot go buy one, seeing as it is kind of illegal to own one. He was hurt in their backyard, so they nursed him back to health and just kept him. He was a really nice animal, would love you to death if you came over.

As for me, we had a pet rooster for about a year. He just showed up in our backyard one day. He lived in the playhouse that we had for the kids. He would let you pet him and everything. He disappeared a couple months ago, though.

Racoons are wild animals and are not legal to keep as pets. You can only legally have one if you have a wildlife permit. The weirdest pet I ever had wasn't that weird- I had a pet spider... not a tarantuala, just a regular spider. It lived free on my windowsill, not ina tank or anything, and I fed it flies...

A red-tailed boa constrictor. It started out as a foot long little skinny thing. We had snakey for about 6 years and she grew to about 12 feet long. We finally gave her up when we were worried that she might squeeze us. She was realtively easy to take care of. She lived in an aquarium, ate a rat once a week and defecated once a month.

A wild ostrich that came running into our back yard one afternoon. it took hours to catch and by the end of the day we were covered in scratches. but then we let it go after it calmed down...but he still visits us!

I was in South Africa and had a Chamelon , those color changing lizards, for about a week. he was crossing the road and wouldn't stay off the road, no matter what side I mved him to he kept heading back to the road so I took him with me back to the base and he hung out in my room for about a week. I would leave my flashlight on at night and the bugs it attracted he would eat. He was a hoot to play with!

I had two pigmy mice. They are about the size of a quarter full grown. The only problem...excellent escape artists. They finally got a way and died from starvation in the closet.

Well it's not strange to me, but we raised an orphan squirrel on goats milk. And then he was released back in to the wild. He comes and visit us almost everyday while we are out on farm chores...Usually at milking time.
