The reason I ask is...how do you hold onto your sanity?

Yes I did for about 2 years sitting at a desk answering the telephone and solving problems. Never really lost my sanity, if I did I don't miss it.

I work with seniors and sometimes I find it hard to keep my sanity. I'm so tired of the same stories and complaints over and over... I keep my sanity by not always listening to every word and when I get home I can just forget about it until the next time.

Sure! Customer service is a part of many many jobs. I have worked customer service for the telephone company, mail order/internet companies, as well as in a retail environment.
Why do you want to know? Anything in particular you wanna know about the customer service field? The big bucks are in LAW MEDICINE and HOLLYWOOD .

I don't keep my sanity. How do you think I got to be this goofy? Dealing with people everyday for the last 9 years.

yep, and it is almost always slaveshop work.
Especially if you work for less than $16/hr ..
The CSR jobs that pay $14 or better are the good ones.
All CSR (deal with public) jobs around here pay $9 or less.
Most CSR jobs around here that are (CSR to client companies) are double that.
The low end csr jobs are very easy to get and very easy to lose and most will drop you quick.
Ie; when they say '500 new jobs' coming to town, if its CSR then it really means nothing 'real soon'.

I work hard to "service" (I guess you could call them customers) in many different positions. I enjoy my work.
