I would check the fuse first. Then check the bulbs. The manual should have the list of which fuse is which.

look in the owners manual and find out where the fuse panel is and which fuse is the brake light fuse. Pull it out and see if it is blown. If the fuse is good replace one brake light bulb, press the pedal and see if it lights up. If not it will more than likely be the brake light switch located on the brake pedal and is a little more complicated to check, you may want to take it to a shop at that point. It should not be an expensive fix.

Check the brake/stop light switch its under the dash on the brake pedal, its a small switch easy to change and cheap, all you have to do confirm this is unplug the switch and turn ignition on, jump the two terminals together with a paper clip and if the brakes come on its the switch, should cost about 30-50 bucks.

well, it might be a burnt out bulb, but if they both dont work, then it is highly unlikely. so, more than likely, it is a fuse. get into your owners manual and look at the illustration of the fuse box. it will show you what fuses do what, and find the brake light fuse. then, either with a fuse puller or a pair of needle-nose pliers, pull that fuse, and if the wire that you can see through the pretty colors is broken, then theres your problem. you can buy a package of three fuses for really cheap. and if the wire is not broken in the fuse, then i really dont know, it would probably be your wiring. but thats not very likely.

Check the fuse box if that doesn't work there's a lever on the back of your brake pedal to adjust maybe it came loose and turned them off. When my lever got loose the lights wouldn't go off. It wouldn't hurt to try it. Cheaper than a mechanic, Good Luck!!!

Check the fuse box first. Then, check to see if the bulbs are burned out. Oh, how about the ground wire? Shouldn't be all that expensive...might be a little time-consuming.

Usually it's the bulb light that shorts out. It'll cost you less than $2. Go to Kragen or some auto parts store and ask them for the bulb lights for your car. Open the trunk and there should be a removeable panel. Open it up and untwist the bulb counterclockwise. Put the new bulb in and close the panel.

First you may discover out precisely how plenty it expenses to repair it. if your mom is extremely keen to spend one thousand or greater to repair it (greater desirable than a million/2 the cost of the vehicle), then it extremely is basically no longer nicely worth it. additionally, those older hyundais (in the previous 3 hundred and sixty 5 days 2000) tend to be very unreliable, and are poorly built to grant sufficient protection in an twist of fate. That Corolla feels like a reliable decision, yet i does no longer pay greater desirable than 4,000 funds for that concern it extremely is in.
