per minute is like 1-5, it depends on the person because he\she could be thinking of something for like 2 minutes

I would say it depends on the individual and their state of mind/mood. If you're anxious or depressed you're likely to have far more thoughts per second, without even noticing many of them. Having a lot of thoughts that are not properly chewed-on is an important aspect of depression and grief. But a more relaxed and generally satisfied person would have much less thoughts going through their mind. Instead they are able to think more rationally and calmly on the thoughts that go through their minds and solve problems they might come across without too much drama.

The New York Times reported that Alex Rodriguez’ “performance coach” is working with Alex to reduce the number of thoughts he has per day. Most people, he says, have 2-3,000 (that works out to about three per minute, in case you were wondering), whereas highly trained professional athletes get rid of negative and useless thoughts, reducing their total daily thought count down to 1,200 or so. And they hold each thought longer.

That is a cool question. I bet an average could be found doing some studies on the matter . However, 'thought' itself is difficult to define. Some might say while conscious, you are in constant thought (simply 'on' rather than one thought, off, then another thought, off, and so on). However, on the other hand, I have read that a Tibetan monk trained years in order to only have one thought, one focus, one simple mind 'reality' -without varying to another 'thought' or subject - for very long periods of time.
I think it is fair to say that we all are constantly 'in' thought while awake (even daydreaming has thoughts), but that we can vary the number of subjects which can be 'thought of'.

for average human: 55000 thoughts per day. that would mean 2292 per hour. that means every minute you have about 38 thoughts. about half a thought per second. weird huh?
don't think about it tho, that might mess it up. lol

1) it depends on the speed of your thinking pattern whether you think fast or slow.
2) It depends on your movements for the day for example if you in the home and if you outside the home. Certain things at home and certain things outside the home will trigger numerous thoughts.
3) It also depends on what you read, hear and smell during the day.
4) conversations can trigger many thoughts also
All the aforementioned above can trigger thoughts from the past, present and future.

The number of cognitions a person made on a daily basis would actually be impossible to quantify with modern technology. Additionally, you would have to weigh certain extraneous variables, such as mood [depression tends to slow the cognitive process and conditions such as OCD tends to highten the process]. Simply unquantifiable.

so many it's hard to count...everybody has certain thoughts.....i mean everybody thinks a few things when they read your question...i'd go with maybe a thought every 2 seconds (just not when you're fast asleep)
it might be the same thought though...like during sex you're thinking "yes yes yes yes" the same message over and over again.....so you think a lot of thoughts during a day....i've thought of plenty things during this answer....
one thing is for sure...there are too many thoughts to count
