Are you involved with some one right now? And are you sure you know what you want...really be attentive with this guy not to hurt his feelings.
You can hook him up if you are such close friends and he is of no interest for you;try to make him to get his mind off you.
Maybe he is passionately inlove with you...that is hard,but if he'll be with another girl,in time he'll see things differently,although he might still care for you.
Or he could just have a crush on you,but that is just a 'diplomatic' way to say inlove.
Aaaa,let's not forge,choose the right time to tell him how you feel,when he is in a good mood and when he can see things better. It is a throw of dices more or less...
One thing more..nag him a bit,be more insistent so he gets a bit tired of you (like going out,intruding his vital space..suffocate a bit) ,that is the best way to make someone back-off...it works all the time. And it should not affect your friendship in time,cause time heals everything.

in a very nice way and in a non-hurting way, tell him the truth. tell him that you don't want to lose your friendship him that can last forever by a relationship that has no guarantee to live a life long.

Be honest with him. It's going to hurt him more if he finds out that you don't like him. If I was him i would think that he was being played so you need to tell him.

just tell him straight up that you're not interested or that u dont see him in that way. if he doesnt listen its not your fault cuz u already told him how you feel. just dont be a jerk with him cuz then you'll hurt his feelings and it might end up coming back at u one day
