If you can remain positive and give a hug or short smile it is ok. I prefer to just watch and stay in my corner. But "I'm sorry for your loss" sounds cheese but ok to say. If you listen to their feelings and be symathetic is good.

You talk about how great the person was, and how much they accomplished in their life. Also talk about how much the person will be missed, and how their death didn't deserve to happen to the person. Squeeze out a few tears if you can!

don't say much, be there to listen to what the mourners have to say. let them know that you're there to listen to them and to help them whenever they need it
i don't mean you're not a mourner btw, guess it depends on how well you know the person

To the bereaved - "My condolences"
What NOT to say - "I think I can see her nipples through that dress."
