It could get an infection if not sterilized. And not as accurate as well.

I cant tell you that it is dangerous but I have been told that it can cause nerve damage how true that is I'm un sure of. I have my own gun and have pierced my cartilage. cause of the toughness of the cartlidge it went in at an angle and when I removed it to let it heal it left a scar. I've this tiny bump on my ear now and wished I never would have attempted that.
Common seance think of the possible outcomes and make sure you can live with them.

You should only let a trained and qualified piercer do your piercings. There are nerves in your ears, that when severed due to an injury (such as an inexperienced body piercer) can cause some muscles in your face to go slack. Normally when you are getting your cartilage pierced they use a hollow needle and a clamp and not a gun. Good luck and find a piercer that you trust!!

its not a good idea.. back in the day when I got mine I got it done with a gun, but I would never now. The guns can never really be cleaned well and there in no way to get it exactly right.
I got peirced right below another already healed peircing but the new one went in off centered and messed up all my holes.. its sucked.
I wouldn't suggest it.

I hear piercing guns are hard to clean and so you have a higher risk of recieving a virus or bacteria (such as HIV).
