It is definitly a fad, in the 50's people would of made fun of a skinny girl. Why is everyone against healthy weight/ and plus size people? There are plenty of skinny girls that are dirty and dont take care of themselves and plenty of plus size girls that are healthy and clean. Go figure.

It's what the mass media has sold to people. That in order to belong to the beautiful and hip crowd that you need to be skinny. Your correct back in the 50's woman's bodies had a shape to them. Keep the faith soon enough society will once again value people with some weight as history always repeats itself. Look at platform shoes and bellbottoms. Ha!

People without any self esteem want to look like people on TV, so they starve themselves and throw up and end up looking like they have some really bad disease. Maybe the fashion will change, but the important thing is to be yourself whether you fit the current standard of "beauty" or not. You should eat right and get exercise because that builds health, but you shouldn't let some TV star be your role model, and you shouldn't let someone else determine what size is right for you. Different people have different shapes, and only you can determine what you should look like. To be a slave to fashion is really superficial and immature.

I don't know. But if they liked bigger people in the 50's, then maybe they will again in the future. I'm not plus size now and I hope to never be, but I agree that the world should focus less on people's weight and size and more on what they're like as actual people.

Yep, you're right, but the truth is this is only really a fad in the USA. In the UK, there is not such a major obsession with being skinny, but just being fit and healthy. HTH.

I just want to be healthy. Skinny isn't the way to go. Most guys I've talked to actually just like normal sized girls. If they're too skinny, they seem fragile, like they'll break. Usually if you're overweight, you're not healthy.

I'm all about being the right size for my frame. I am 5'9 and by no means fat or overweight but I am also not too skinny. And I am happy with it. Its all about being comfortable in your own skin!!

A fat girl makes me feel sick if I imagine hugging her or something like that. Otherwise, it is fine with me
