Get some GOOZ at the store. You can also find it at a car care store. It removes gum, glue, and generally all sticky stuff.

Get a paper sack from the grocery store and heat your iron on medium/low, put the sack over the gum and run the iron over top of it, the gum will stick to the paper, you may have to move the paper around to the clean spots until you get it all off, this will work on carpet too.

You could try applying ice till the gum hardens up and then scrap it off with a sharp edged tool, knife, etc!. Or try p. butter, rubbing it on and scraping it off.

freeze w/ice cube and scrape off as much as possible. try goo gone, an orange based solvent. if you can stand the odor for a while lighter fluid (benzene) will dissolve it but may leave a stain.
let me know if any of this helps.
Best regards,

use an ice cube to chill the gum and a dull knife to scrape it away.
