My advice to you is to only do what you are comfortable with. If you don't feel at ease with tampons, then use pads. If you really want to use tampons, try this...stand with one foot resting on the bathtub. Relax and don't worry about what you are doing. Insert the applicator and angle it towards the small of your back. Then gently and slowly push the plunger. You won't feel a thing and it will naturally slide into where it needs to be. Just remember to change them at least every 7 hours or so to avoid a build up of bacteria. Once you get used to wearing tampons you won't want to wear a pad again. You'll love the freedom they allow. Best of luck.

The most important thing to do is relax. And as I stated before, sometimes using a lubricant can make insertion easier. As far as pushing the tampon in...it's not going to go in any farther than the applicator is. Once you push it in, you pull the applicator out so the tampon is where the applicator basically was. You got the worst part done, getting the applicator in.

First, Why do you want to use one? Swimming? frankly my experience has been when you put the tampon in before swimming, the water holds the blood at bay...and then when you take the watered up tampon out it is really uncomfortable (makes me squirm just to think about it) and does not have much blood on it.
If you just want to try it, do it on a medium day, wear a liner cuz you will leak a bit (bring a second one along to change in) and change it about 2-4 hours later.
Nothing wrong with using them, but I find them uncomfortable, sometimes I don't put it deep enough. Do not be afraid it will get "lost" cuz your uterus opening is WAY too small for it to ever get in there....that is what holds a baby in, and when it stretches open to push the baby out, it is what BURNS if you push too soon. You should read "what to expect when you are expecting" to learnmore about that.
Don't be afraid, but be sure you are putting it in all the way, then push the plunger steadily in until it is fully depressed, then pull out the aplicator, wrap it in a tissue(cuz looking at your blood is icky for the custodian) and toss it in the trash. Pull the string a bit to make sure it is in there snug. Go on about your business, and pull it out 2-4 hours later slowly...until it is about to be completely out...then try not to let it hit your hand...move your hand forward a bit.

I personally like pads since they are so flat now...lucky us. and you can see how much you have for each day of your period, and if you see changes in the amount you can consult a doctor.

Putting in a diaphram is WAY harder than a tampon, trust me.

I seriously wouldn't bother if I was you.
What the other's have said is right. Maybe it's your subconscious trying to tell you something.

If you are able to actually insert the applicator then that obviously rules out the most common reason for people not being able to use them.

You need to figure out why you're afraid or just say f*** it and do it without thinking.

Use pads instead. They're a little more awkward, but you're more prone to yeast infections by using tampons. I'd rather wear a bulky pad than have constant itching "down there" that I can't find relief for.

jsut dont think abt it...just do it. it dont hurt at all, if you can get it in..that right there is the worst part! just think abt...with tampons, u dont constantly feel all wet down therem can lay down, run, do what ever unlike with pads...tampons are so much more comfortable. what is there to be afraid of? you've goten the worst part over.

Just dont think about it, just do it, iit wont get stuck and u can always pull it out if u dont like it. it wont hurt either. u wont feel ,much of anything. Just dont leave it in more than 3-4 hours, 1 hour for heavy, or u could risk TSS.
