I think gay men make the best of friends cuz women are petty and jealous BITCHES.....ex you're going out and what you decide to wear looks like something you got out of your great grandma's closet a female will say girl you look good because she wants all the attention for herself but a gay guy would tell you girl you look like a damn fool change and he'll even find you a better outfit.

I think that problem is that when you picture a gay man, you think of an outgoing, funny, quirky guy who waves his hands a lot, says "Fabulous!" and loves shopping. The problem is that a lot - I would say most - gay men aren't like that. For example, I have a gay friend who is quiet, reserved, has a low voice, and hates shopping unless he's in a music store. The fact is, gay people are often shown on TV and movies as being these people without real problems or real personalities - which is why you can wish you had a gay friend in the same way that little kids wish they had a pet dog or cat. Think about it this way: why don't you wish you had a lesbian or bisexual friend? Or simply a straight friend with the traits you think you can only find in a gay male? The fact is, you're being told by the media that gay people are like fun pets - when actually, because gay people are just like everyone else, they're all different. Sure, maybe some gay people will be like the stereotype - just like how some girls fit the "dumb blonde" stereotype - but that doesn't speak for all of them. Be careful when you assume that gay men are all fluffy cute people like Jack on "Will & Grace", because I know a lot (in fact, all that I've met!) of gay men who find being treated like less than a real, complex human being to be insulting and painful. Always remember to be a good friend regardless of sexual orientation - people are people, not entertainment!

Best of luck.

I think it's nice to have friends from all walks of life, but you might be dissappointed if you get a gay friend like mine. He isn't into fashion, doesn't like shopping. In fact he's nothing at all like the characters on Will & Grace. Oh, he does dye his hair though. ( ya, I'm being a little sarcastic )

I'm sure it would be nice to have a friend of the opposite sex who wasn't trying to get into your pants. I'd like that with women, but it hasn't ever worked out yet. Eventually one ends up pining for the other. What can I say? I'm irresistable :D

You've given me the idea to pursue a friendship with a lesbian. I'm not much of a handyman after all, and this place could use some fixing up :D But I find women who can snap me in two, a little intimidating.

Oy! Stereotypes are funny :P

Maybe I should pretend to be gay and let women try to convert me!!! :D

yyya!

Gay men are great friends for straight women. I used to be friends with a gay man, but I had to move, and sadly we only talk every once in a while. Gay men are not pets, or trends, they are human beings, remember that. Good Luck!

I've heard that too. My cousin told me her best friend is gay and they do everything together..shop,hair, fix up the house and her husband never thinks anything about it when they are together. She said he would rather her be with him than some of her female friends because they like to go male shopping. I really see no difference in whether they are male or female, straight or gay, people are people, a friend is a friend.

Some do...some don't. The same with straight women, straight men, gay women, etc. I have a gay male friend who is awesome, but don't automatically assume that because a guy is gay that he is going to want to be your shopping buddy or anything else.

Yes they do. For the most part they're like guys, except female on the inside. So go get a gay friend and talk about shopping or something.

A good friend is hard to find. NO matter gay or straight. If you have a best friend, then invest lots of time, love and respect. It is a treasure and a blessing. Best wishes.

I hate that. I am not homophobic, but like I feel nervous around girls if they are with a guy like that... I was shooting around in my HS's gym and for some reason the dance team had their gay dancer dude in there and he was twirling a baton.. The music pissed me off and i wanted to be beat him with the baton because we had the gym time... Sorry I was rambling, but they probably do make good friends because they are basically girls with a penis
