x+2/3=13/9

Change 2/3 to 6/9 and subtract 13-6 = 7

x = 7/9

Put everything into the over 9 format. 13/9 already is. 2/3 isn't.

So convert 2/3 into x/9 by deciding how much you need to multiply the 3 by. That's 3 : 3x3 = 9. So multiply both the 2 and the 3 by 3 to get 6/9.

Then subtract 6/9 from 13/9 and you have your answer. Remember that in subtraction, the denominator doesn't change, just the numerator. To convert a fraction, multiply both numerator and denominator by the same number.
