I just spent a month with 8 Canadians, and yes, you do have accents. They arent strong or very different from ours, but it is apparent.

I believe it is because many of us speak clear and proper English. Yes there are regional accents but in general that is only we are oot in a boot eh! Seriously we only use those words (if ever) to play with Americans. We are a fun loving people and we don't have a Saskatchewan Seal Hunt - but shhhh, don't tell'em that!

Yep! You sound like the cobination of cultures that helped to build and sustain your part of the world..it's beautiful. And it's not just Canadians...Americans think Americans have accents...LOL..so we definitely think other folks have 'em. Ex: Popular American Accents are Southern, Northern, MidWest, Philly, New York. Usually it's not until I stand next to someone else that I realize....I have one too..LOL

Yes. I have live in New York State most of my life, but when I went to live in the south, everyone knew where I was from. Some people even guessed northern NY just from my accent. Some people are very perceptive, and can guess where your from with barely more than a "hello" from you.

yes we Americans do, as your experience has proved to you. But we love accents from places like Canada, Australia, the British Isles. So know that most of us enjoy hearing your voice.

yeah! You do XD. Like the word "out." Us Americans say "owt," and you guys say "oat," almost. You pronounce the "ou," sound a bit differently. At least, that's the most noticeable thing.
I noticed some people are saying that certain people "talk funny." There's simply no definition of "talking funny," because there are so many different ways to speak. Only your own language/accent sounds "normal."

Compared to how Americans talk, you do have an accent. Just like inside America itself, we can generally tell what area of the country someone is from just by their accent.

Yes, sugarbabe...you do. And it changes from the Maritime provinces westward. Ontario-ites sound like Wisconers, Minnesotans, and Michiganders, saying Ow-t for out, Poe-day-toe for potato, but we love our northern friends, so don't be offended. It's said affectionately and warmly...but...you folks up there...SOL

Doesn't everyone have accents?
For example, years ago I phoned a stranger in California, searching for a particular actor. The stranger was surprised that I was a native New Yorker, but knew from my voice--that is, my accent--that I was from the Northeast. (She thought I was from Connecticut.)
Similarly, Americans will hear the Canadian in your speech.

The fact that you're Canadian doesn't explain your inability to speak English properly.
