Whoever asks that question is a sissy, a slave, and a lazy slob. Why didn't YOU do something to stop a bomb going off? it is YOUR responsibility to provide for your safety. it is not the duty of the government or the police to babysit you. every time sissies like yourself ask "why doesnt the government do something" the government responds. they respond with a bunch of new laws to limit people's freedom, but don't do a damned thing to stop more bombs going off. the people who want to set off bombs dont care about following the laws and will definitely find a way to subvert security. or perhaps that is your idea, to help turn the US into a nanny state where everyone has to ask "mother may i" for everything.

I don't know, but some people rightfully beleive that it is the government's duty to protect the people. If it's not, I sure would like to know why they are spending my tax money on military and homeland security.
Holding the government accountable for its responsibilities is necessary for progress. Many of the politicians today speak about the importance of accountability, but usually it is in a negative context about something they are trying to fix.
And for Cosax above who likes to collect all the facts before blaming someone, there are some people on this site that think just trying to collect the facts is treason.

i'm gonna guess the people who get hit with the bomb first. then it will be the senators in a vain attempt to make it look like they're doing som good, then the president will ask, then the "grand inquisition" will take place in which they'll find some fault with the govt. case will be closed, then....hmm....4-5 years later people will still question who was really at fault at which point they will be demonized for asking too many questions about the govt. if they're not killed first.

I'll wait until the dust clears before jumping on blaming someone. Then we can figure out if the government tried to do something and it failed, or didn't try at all. If they don't try at all, I'd like to make sure they didn't have definitive evidence this was going to happen. I like to collect facts before blaming someone.

it will be the same ones that try to stop the USA. You know the liberal damnocrats that whine and cry about the patriot act, the damnocrats who think there is no threat, and the people who believe in conspiracy theories

That fear should not be an excuse for Bush to ignore the Constitution.

I'd be more inclined to blame US imperial policy for leading to it in the first place.
