Don't get me wrong. I am all for having a good time. If a guy wants to congratulate his teammates after a touchdown then so be it. But now it seems like you see a Mardi Gras celebration after everything. First downs, interceptions, a decent tackle, a decent punt. Holy crap. The time wasting.

I'm with you. I hate the showboating and celebrating. And what especially irks me is a player who will celebrate a good play when his team is way behind. That is the ultimate in "ME" ~ minship. I think the coaches should be held responsible for what used to be known as "good sportsmanship". I like the coaches who tell their players that when they make a good play, especially score a touchdown , "act like you've done it before". In other words, show some class. High fives should be the max allowed w / o a penalty. Of course, if I were a coach, and an opposing player showed my team and me up by celebrating, said player would be targeted for retaliation , unofficially speaking of course. Just like in baseball with the brushback and beanballs. It would be an unwritten rule.

They used to do it far longer and with more gusto back in the day--before the league clamped down and started calling penalties for overcelebrating. Quite frankly, I miss the Icky Shuffle and some of the end zone dancing that went on after a touchdown. That is when you should celebrate--or a really good field goal--hey the kickers need some love, too.

As for celebrating for just walking out to the field, that's pushing it. I think the league is going to clamp down again on that stuff--but I truly miss the endzone stuff.

They just need to make it more interesting. I think the hole time a player is showboating and 5 seconds after he has stopped, the other teams players should be able to clobber the player without fear of penalization.

Imagine moonwalking past the goal post and having a defense tackle with a15 yard sprint clotheslining you.

Awesome!

Yes - It goes too far. The words I always thought were funny are "If you get in the end zone try to act like you've been there before".

I don't think it adds anything to the game.

it doesn't go far enough. as long as the celebration isn't directed toward another player or team it should be allowed. NFL= No Fun League

The league is filled with BIG *SSHOLES!!!! Thats why I watch college ball, so I can see future *SSHOLES today!! Seriously, a player should be ejected for celebrating doing his job if his team is trailing!!

it's a game, they should be able to celebrate all they want, with the exception of foreign objects (cell phones, pens, ect.) which should lead to an immediate eviction.
