Since this is the Computers & Internet section you must be refering to an antenna needed to connect to a wireless LAN or a wireless ISP.

A dipole is an antenna with two elements and the connection (feed) to the antenna is in the center, between the two elements. If there is no amplifier or booster, it is a passive dipole.

Dipoles are cut to specific frequencies and do not work well with a broad range of frequencies. They have modest gain in the front and back and poor gain on the sides. A simple dipole like this is fine for FM radio reception in your house if you live in the city or suburbs. It will not work well in rural areas because it does not have enough gain.

You can also make a dipole antenna to receive a specific TV channel. At frequencies lower than 50 MHz, dipoles start to get big and unwieldy. It can be done at lower frequencies if you have the space and a means to support the antenna, however. Some shortwave radio fans have dipoles that work from 5-10 MHz, stretching the length of their house.

its an antena that recieves as well in front as it does on back but little on the sides, how long is it, it may work for wifi if you get the appropriate pigtail, otherwise it may be for tv or radio. you can find out more about antenna lengths and their tuned frequencies on google.

I think thatt your standard bunny ears are a tune able quarter wave dipole.
