A father has equal rights but that isn't what the legal system is about. What is paramount is the welfare and best interests of the children. Yes the legal system favours the mother in custody battles but it is not impossible for the father to win (I've done it twice). However most fathers should be absolutely sure it's something they want to do. It's rewarding but it's not easy.

Because its generally the woman who has provided care and nurturing to the child since its birth. Men tend to be more like babysitters than actual parents. Women usually do the baths, and bedtime and dr's visits and caring for them while they are sick. When is the last time you heard of a guy taking off work because his kid had the flu and couldn't be taken to daycare? Also they are generally better at it. Oh and you are saying dose (like a dose of medicine) you mean D O E S. The ability to spell is a good thing to pass on to your child.

You will need a good lawyer and will need to dig up some good dirt. The system is biased toward women, that is not doubt. I am sorry if someone get offended by this because it is a sad truth. A man has to fight for everything he gets in a divorce if it has to invovle the court to decide. My ex left the kids home alone (8 and 5) and my son almost burnt down the house cause she was sleeping while they were under her care. I could not get custody. She had nothing on me.

Depends on the relationship.
Where you married to the mother?
Is your name on the birth certificate?
Do you pay child support?
The only way to get a child away from a mother is to prove her unfit. And i mean big time unfit. She has to be strung out on drugs in a run down house with no air and water.
One other way is to prove that you can spend more time with the child. If she works and goes to school but you only work and will not have the child in day care as much as she does. Thats hitting low if shes only trying to better herself for the child but i have heard of men getting custody because they lived at home with no responsiblity and only worked part time and the mother worked went to school and the child was in day care alot.
The only thing you can do if shes not a bad mother is go to court and ask for joint custody.

Very little my friend. A mother has parental responsibility from the childs birth. That is why the legal system favours women(even if they are in the wrong)You can get yourself a good family law lawyer who will try his best for you. Good Luck!

The father has the right to support the child and the woman has the right to everything else... because that's how it's always been.

Because they are usually better at caring for the child. For a child to be removed from the mother she is usually not a very good parent and must be proven unfit.

Because since the beginning men have said that women are meant to breed, nurture and raise children. Many of you continue to believe you're own rhetoric and you want to complain about it?!
