I loved the first one, got lost on the second one... should I give the third one a chance?
Depp is hot though

Definitley overrated. I took the kids to see it last night, full of anticipation since I really dug the first film. Halfway through POTC2, I just couldn'twait for it to finish.
- Forced Comedy spots. Ugh. What helped make the first film was that Jack Sparrow was a rougish pirate, full of charm with great pirate-ish mannerisms and expressions. This time around, Depp's relentless forced comedy spots were a nightmare to watch. Absolutely horrific at times.
- Plot. For long perods, there was no actual plot and that resulted in major credability points being lost. The entire island sequence.....was there a point to it, or was it just to fill an early chunk of the film up ?
- Keira Knughtly. When did she go from being a prissy daughter to super bad-*** fighting machine ? I really hate that female leads are specifically written to make them "not just the damsel in distress". 2006, PC mentality etc....well, in some cases, the female leads are better JUST AS the damsel in distress. Having a kick-*** female role is warranted only when the plot requires it. Same as 'King Arthur'...Guienivere with bows and arrows ? Please.
- Reliance on CGI. Waaaaay too many films do this and it, again, takes away the films enjoyment. The Davey Jones crew of baddies.....why were they baddies in POTC2; did they do something extremely dastardly or was it because they were cool CGI characters ? It was hard to think of them as baddies (hard to think of them as anything, for that matter) because they didn't actually do anything bad enough to warrant being a baddie.
I hated it, the kids loved it so that's what was really important to me. I will deff give the 3rd Pirates film a shot though....Barbosa is back and that's a good thing. Perhaps there'll be some semblance of a plot to fill the 2 1/2 hours next time too.

Personally, I don't think it was overrated. However, I do think that it was a little hard to follow and could have had some time taken off of it. I did like the fact that Orlando Bloom got more parts than Johnny Depp in this one. Don't get me wrong, Johnny Depp is a great actor, but I just don't care for him looks-wise. Personally, I think Orlando Bloom is better looking and his accent gets me every time. I can't wait to see the third one!

Nope. I agree. They could have trimmed about 30 minutes or so, and it would have been more tolerable. It seemed like the whole thing was a setup for the 3rd movie. This is seemingly similar, unfortunately, to what happened with the Matrix trilogy, i.e. 1st one was great, second one set up the 3rd, and then the 3rd blew chunks. Hope that does not define the Pirates, but call me a seasick skeptic.

actual no longer ME!!! Pirates of the Caribbean is the final video clips I rather have ever considered and that i'm counting down the minutes, actually I rather have a timer, till the third. Pirates rock and Johnny Depp is sooo stunning!!!

NO, I ALSO thought it did NOT live up to its previews.
I felt exactly the same as you..loved the first, too many characters introduced in the second. However, I will probably give the third a chance. I want to know what happens to Captain Jack Sparrows.

I wasn't overly impressed with the plot. I believe the third will be better. I think they needed a filler movie to introduce Jack Sparrow's father for the next one.
I will give it though the sfx and animation in this one were very good.

The third will clear everything up.
I felt the second was 30 minutes too long and had too many strings to keep separate

IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! a little long...but still amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i didn't like it either the first time i saw it...but i saw it for the second time and i thought it was really good!!!!!!!! maybe you should see it again, and you might like it better!! and yes, you should totally see the third one...even if its only to see johnny depp cause he's incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he is one dead sexy pirate!!!!!! (although, i liked the first one better, too)

i agree with u all i liked it. but it did have that feeling it was being rushed i think they should have gone into jacks carater more in steed of just giving us hints about him and the pearl they have allot of explaining to do in three and i hope they are up to it now will it be part 3 or will it be 2 part 2 lol

Eye matte!! That thing gave my @ss sores! I just knew that me and my seat became one. When it was at the end and it ended the way it did it just pis^ed me off! I won't go see the third.
