Is it true that you can get imprisoned for having sex before marriage, in Utah?

I think it is stupid.

In Utah, being human is illegal. Just visit Provo, home of the mindless tie wearing automoton.

Utah's sodomy laws were struck down by the US supreme court in 2003.

tjnw79 is a fine example of the highly common specimen of Utah dumbass. This question has validity as it was true at one time any act of sodomy out of wedlock was illegal in Utah, up to 2003.

Another interesting thing about Utah and sex related laws were the laws of cross racial dating. Up until the 80s, Utah had a ban on cross racial dating.

There is no law against premarital sex in Utah (how would they enforce it if there were?) but keep in mind Utah is filled with members of the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) and they frown upon it. Several songs that speak of such things have been banned from radio stations, and don't even think of trying to show Brokeback Mountain" there.

i don't know if it's actually illegal in utah, but hopefully is isn't. premarital sex should be legal, not illegal.

not only should premarital sex be legal and stay that way, but it should be encouraged, if anything. premarital sex between guys and women isn't bad at all. if anything, it's actually good, moral, and right. it's wrong for guys to miss out on foreplay and sex with women, especially by their thirties and on up. a lack of foreplay and sex between guys and women is bad and wrong, but many christians are too ignorant to realize that. if anything, there needs to be more, not less, foreplay and sex between guys and women(both inside AND outside of marriage). a lack of foreplay and sex between guys and women can only cause more harm than good.

and why are you talking about premarital sex, and then talking about underage kids? some people never marry, even by the time they're in their 30s. so are you trying to say that it's not about premarital sex afterall, but rather instead only about kids under 18 years old? regardless if someone can pay bills or not, premarital sex between guys and women should be deemed ok and justifiable, especially by the time they're as old as anywhere between 28 to 35 years old. not everyone gets married in their mid-20s. some stay single in their whole life, even by the time they're in their 30s, and to be a virgin past the age of 30, that's the time when you should REALLY start doing it as soon as you can or at least before you turn 31 whether you're married or not, because if you're 31 and still a virgin, that starts to become a bad thing, again, whether you're married or not.

No, premarital sex is not banned in Utah, but Utahites are banned from premarital sex.

(think about it)

Actually, it's illegal in Illinois. Oral sex is illegal in Utah, even between married couples.

Utah believes only in providing a religious based, abstinence-only-before-marriage message. It is illegal to discuss the reality of premarital sex or even mention the word "condom" in its public schools. Even advice to young people about the reality of pre-marital sex is denied.

The end result? One of the highest unwanted teen pregnancy rates in the country and too many unnecessary HIV cases.
