Try a better brand like Huggies or something. Huggies is a brand name disposable diaper marketed by the Kimberly-Clark Corporation. K-C sells several forms of diapers, though the Huggies brand name is used for its traditional baby diaper. It also sells "Pull-Ups" training pants and "Goodnites" Nighttime protection for older kids, as well as a line of disposable swimtrunks known as "Little Swimmers." You could also try Pampers, a brand of disposable diaper (or nappy) marketed by Procter & Gamble worldwide. I think the other diapers didn't work because either you didn't put the diaper and attach it properly or that since the ones you bought were really cheap, so was their utility. Meaning they probably are as good as their price!

We had the same problem with our son. Since he was a big baby *almost 10 pounds at birth, he was not wearing the correct size. Now at 3 months, he is in size 3 diapers. We went through every diaper brand that we could find and the only ones that he likes that didn't leak were pampers. Also, as the last poster said, make sure he isn't pointed up. Turns out that my son's diapers were looser when he lifts his arms, and since it was pointed up...well it would shoot straight out of the diaper.

I always used Pampers and never had a problem. Maybe the problem isn't the diaper. It could be that you are buying him diapers that are too big for him~or~you are not putting them on tight enough. It shouldn't matter how he sleeps. Also, when you put a new diaper on him, run your finger around the edge in between his leg and the diaper, making sure that the inner elastic band is pulled down. It might be that the band is caught up so it has nothing to prevent it from leaking.

You may already do this but sometimes I would forget to point him down if I did forget they would always leak.I also had to use the special overnight diapers and have even used something called Diaper Doublers an extra disposable liner that goes in the diaper.I don't know if they still make them,I found them at a local grocery chain store. They look alot like the giant maxi pads from the hospital but no adhesive.I even thought about using a real pad but husband thouht I was crazy (just desperate).Hope you find something that works!

I use Pampers and have never had them leak on me except when other people change their diaper. Sometimes they do not put the flaps up high enough and it leaks out the top or they do not make sure the diaper is inbetween their folds so it leaks that way too. Personally, I do not think that Huggies holds as much as Pampers does as I have used several different kinds of diapers too.

You are correct with the assumption that it is because he is laying on his side. There is no absorbant material on the wings.
The best thing to use, really, is cloth. Cloth wraps all the way around and every bit of it is absorbant. In the long run they are cheaper than disposables, they always fit, and the laundry really isn't that much more once you get into a routine with it.
On top of all that, they are better for your baby because they aren't hot and sticky like disposables are and you aren't putting plastic, paper and chemicals against your baby's skin.
Change his diaper. . . . . to cloth, you and he will be better off.

Believe it or not I've always had the best luck with the Walmart brand. The times I've used Huggies I didn't like them. I do also like Pampers however.

It does depend on your sons body type, however, I have found that Huggies works best for me. I used that brand with all 4 of my children.
I know you didn't mention it, but have you tried changing RIGHT before he falls to sleep? It could just be that his liquid intake is high; which in that case, you won't have much luck regardless of the brand you choose.

Going up a size works well. We used Pampers Cruisers until a month ago when we tried the White Cloud brand from Wal-mart. They work even better.

I've always used Huggies. Also sounds like you need to go up a size. My kids diapers always started to leak when they had grown out of them.
Good luck and enjoy the baby!!
