You think the wars over? Hmmmm, we'll see. So, who won? Well, look at casualties, collateral damage both these are worse for Hezbollah and the international force, if it arrives, is to disarm Hezbollah. Limited victory to Israel, thinks I. But no doubt Hezbollah will claim victory but then attention to the facts never was there strong point.

Right now it looks to be mostly a draw. Israel did deliver a devastating blow to them, destroyed their bases, killed or captured numerous fighters and drew world attention to the terrorist who live freely on their northern border. It will become a victory "IF" and thats a pretty huge if, the UN and Lebanese Army truly takes control of the southern portions of the country, disarms or at least keeps Hezbullah from acting freely in the region. Will that happen? Extremely doubtful. There are Hezbullah Ministers within the Lebanese Cabinet and some 40% of their parliment are members of Hezbullah. Its also very doubtful that the UN will give the 15,000 international force any kind of teeth with which to engage Hezbullah should they discover them filtering back into southern Lebanon.

As it is, Hezbullah has taken a beating but survived. They'll lick their wounds, re-arm and over the next months and years they'll filter back into into S. Lebanon where they have support from the populace, hide amongst the people as they always do and bide their time. In a very short time the world will forget about S. Lebanon, the International force will become frustrated because they'll see the Militia fighters but be unable to arrest or detain them, the force will weaken as the countries involved pull out their troops and we'll be right back where we started.

I give it 2, maybe 3 years and things will be just as they were before.

Like Condi said, what good is a cease-fire if things end up just as they were before?

There was no winner to this war. The bombing has stopped, but only temporarily. Time will go by and Hezbollah will NOT disarm, just as they did not disarm in accordance to the earlier UN resolution against them.

Israel will be provoked again and the whole thing will start over. I think it should have gone on until Hezbollah was destroyed.

I think Iran sees it as a victory, because Iran OWNS Hezbollah, and since they didn't get wiped out...well, I guess it's a victory in their eyes.

Depends on how you define success. From their viewpoint they still exist and that is some success. From Israel's perpective if they have seriously degraded Hezbollah's capabilities to attack Israel, then Israel won. I don't think anybody really wins in a war.

They lost the military battles, but won the political war, which is often, if not always, the most important.

By and large, the world was on its side, maybe not so much in ideology, but in empathies, in some cases, sympathies.

i dont know, but i have something to say about that war. in the bible, it says that there would be a giant war starting around that area, and from there, the earth would begin deteriorating. As you see we have many problems with pollution and the Earth heating up because of the greenhouse effect. I think we should be getting ready for many changes...for the worse.

Or course, i dont want that to happen...and i wish it doesnt.

For being honest yes. It did't let Israel to gain any of its objects. And it's a enough reason for winning a war.
