because you are threatening his manliness, its very stupid, but alot of men are like that, they were raised to think that the man supports the wife, and if its the other way around its very emasculating. like i said its stupid.

He probably doesn't want you thinking that just because you're making more money than him, it decreases his authority in the household. Show him that he still makes his fair share of decisions and has an equal amount of authority as you. This can be such a big emotional issue with guys. But we females tend to be like that too. If he is upset with you for other reasons, try talking about with him.

I think the general thread of the previous answers is largely correct. Men do seem to be wired differently, and are predisposed to be "in charge," making more money, having 51% of the say in a household, and Heaven forbid they should have to ask for directions.
Ask your husband this: if you got a 50% pay cut, would he be happier? If he says "yes," ask him "Then wouldn't a 75% pay cut be even better?"
I wish my wife made more than I do! We'd be in 'hog heaven.'

I recently moved across the country, and happened to have found a job before my husband, and he got fussy with me for a little bit. Men are wired so differently than women, and they have a totally different type of pride, they are to be the bread-winners in their mind.
Let him know that since the money is "our" money anyhow, that y'all should be greatful that you are blessed enough to have two incomes to pay the bills rather than one person stressing over it.

because in society it is looked upon that the male is the care taker of the family and that he should be the one providing, which means he would be making more money... it would probably hurt his ego a little bit, but hey its not your fault right your just doing your thing making money for the fam bam... just sit down and talk to him and tell him that that issue is not that important as long as you guys love each other!

Honestly he has a superiority complex ,that's quite obvious but many, many people have them to some degree or another. Perhaps you make his complex worse with your own actions. I don't know, I'm not there to observe. Nobody's perfect but if you really love each other ,you will both work through it and will over come it together.

Money is not everything. Maybe he is upset for some other reason. If it is the money, then maybe you make him feel intimidated becuase you make more money.

As long as you share equally your assets the point should be moot. If you use it as a tool to hit him over the head with, you have to stop.
