Sheesh. I'm rather proud of my generation, actually. Only a few intelligent ones spend a lot of time on Yahoo! Answers. Sure, it makes me want to wring their necks when I'm asking a serious question and they answer with 'I don't know', but the truly amazing thing is, if you ask a question, you usually get some stupid answers, some useful answers, and some funny answers. I think that a lot of people who don't know a lot about the questions asked, but are still 'intelligent' (which I take to mean sharp, witty, and slightly fresh, not well-educated) people who want to talk to the world. i don't see what's wrong with someone being a smart-aleck. They're not wasting anyones time, and they aren't reducing the quality of your answers. They're just making them more diverse.
Edited: I just noticed that I didn't capitalize one of my 'I's. I just wanted everyone to know that sometimes a person is so caught up in the brilliance and excitement of their ideas that they can't be bothered to press the shift key down long enough. And I wanted to make sure you wouldn't judge my generation on my mistake. WE DON'T ALL USE IM SLANG.

I think most people doing this are younger people not really interested in a serious topic or a serious, thoughtful answer. I first came here based on an article I read about Stephen Hawking posting a question here for serious responses. The article also discussed the theory that a large group is able to answer any question better than a small group of "experts" on that particular subject. Sadly, it appears most people don't get the idea of what Yahoo was trying to do and think this is just a silly chat board, like the millions of others on the net.

There is certain lack of intelligence that is offered in both the questions and the answers. I have noticed a few factors that attirbute to this. There are a rather large amount of people that are quite young and their maturity level rings true in print.
The second part doesn't necessarily have to do with intelligence, but there are quite a few people attempting to ask questions who do not have experience with english. It is very tough to ascertain what they are asking on some occasions.
Now, I haven't been answering these questions for very long, but have found that 50-60% of my answers get the extra 10 points. So giving an un-intelligent answer may give you two points, but a little effort and thought (which most of us are capable of) can go along way in the points, as well as make someones day.

Doesn't really lack intelligent people, just have many more teenagers and immature personalities. As people mature they become for the most part, more serious. (Not me! I laugh and joke all the time).
A lot of people look to this forum for a break from the stress of work, home, life in general and boredom, so they pick silly questions. It's more for fun, that they participate here. A break from things they can't control. They CAN control which questions they answer and what they say.

Nope, its more like the intelligent ones just don't bother answering any but the serious questions. And only then if they interest them.
Besides, the intelligent ones are usually the most scathing answers to silly questions

Sorry Rosanna, I basically went by this with yahoo this morning after the violations of the final numerous days... and that i'm no longer meaning basically Yahoos violations! I did propose that they shop song of who's doing the reporting, if their money owed are new or long status money owed. And that possibly somebody could surely study the questions and solutions till now they are violated subsequently saving Yahoo time on having to study and reinstate individuals factors... and there are cases whilst many peoples factors have been bumped off, no longer basically the single posting the question! i don't experience it is honest to the answerer! stable success to you and yours! And, the powers that be!

People just want the points and are not concerned with giving serious answers.
