while doing what - resting should be less with atenolol mine went from 175 / 90 to 125 / 69 resting get your dosage adjusted being a Beta Blocker it is very effective but do not self regulate for the same reason

No, it is not ok. You should aim for 120/80 or less. Please speak to your doctor. Atenolol is only one class of drug available for blood pressure control. The doctor may try to change the dose or add another med from another class of drug.

No, it's not...Keep a diary for two weeks and then report to the doctor...I take atenolol, too, and the doctor added hydrothoroclorozide to it, when my BP jumped like that...We all have our problems, and must adjust to them...

Very not-o.k. Can you go for a walk every day? Lose some weight? Throw away your salt shakers? Cut down to one cup of coffee a day or switch to decaf? Cut out cola drinks?

No, your pressure is very high and you should get to a doctor - you need to be on meds to regulate it.
