I'm 27 and I do have some college under my belt but no degree. I would like to go back to college but now I have 2 kids and I am homeschooling one of them. I have enrolled the last 2 years but something has come up that I haven't been able to go. I am really starting to get nervous about going because by the time I am going to be able to try it again I'll be almost 30. Is there any way I can get over my anxiety about going back to school at my age? And is it possible to go to school, take care of a household, and home school a child too?

I want to thank everyone. I had not thought of online classes and that would be an easy way to get started and do everything else that I need to do. WOW, you all are great!!!

I think you should go back to school, as it seems you truly in your heart want to accomplish obtaining a degree.
Why don't you look into the University of Phoenix which has a wonderful program that they have setup for Bachelor degree and Master degree studies.
I would look into it if I were you, its a nice, convenient setup for working adults that have families.
You can do the online program or you can take classes in the evening after work.
Good luck on what you decide to do and please let us know!

You are going to be 30, regardless. Either you're going to be 30 working on a degree or 30 not working on a degree. You have to decide what degree you want, what field and how much of a sacrifice you are willing to make for your education. As to home schooling a child, I would say that is going to be EXTREMELY difficult if you are a college student yourself. there are some schools that allow you to take many courses on the web, and that will help a woman in your situation. Also, many students are older and with children these days...my first years teaching (I was 36 when I became a university faculty member) I always had 2-3 students near my age and 1 older than me in every class.
So, my answer is you should go back to school, you should expect to sacrifice and you can do this. But it won't be easy.

Oh my God we are in the same shoes however I just made 26. I graduated as a medical assistant and I found myself want to further myself. I did attend a four year college but then I married and children came after 2 to be exact. I am gathering all my information needed for school as we speak.
Take your time. Dont try to register for a bunch of classes only what you can handle Time is going to pass if you are in school or not. I am entering nursing school so I know that you can do whatever your heart desires. Don t be nervous do it for your kids do it while they are young so that they can benefit from it when the grow up and you will be able to say mommy did and so can you. You can go to school and take care of your house and child to think positive. Good luck.

Rhonda sweetheart ! Just do it !!! Like Nike says , dont be nervous or scared, they are only feelings. My wife just went back to college , or i should say she just went to college at the age of 36 !!!!, Im am so proud of her. we have 2 kids also, they are 10 and 13, (makes a little difference) She has been scared too. But her challenge is also that she was born and raised in El Salvador. Never went to school her at all in the states and has never taken any english classes. She want s to become a radioligist. And had to take English courses and a computer class. I am proud to say She got 2 A's !!!! now shes no longer scared and moving forward. So the fear is only in your head, there's nothing there that you cant do !!!! She works full time, helps in the house and has been good for her self esteem ! GO FOR IT GIRL !!!! YOU CAN DO IT !!!!

It is very possible to these things. School will always be around, I suggest online courses from a good regionally-accredited school becuz they are very convenient for those who work and manage a household. All you need is great time management. Remember that you are doing this for your kids and yourself. You can do it. I applaud your efforts. You may be surprised but there are many adults going back to school and not enough young people. So you may not be the oldest in the classroom. Best wishes and keep us updated on your progress.

it's never too late to go back to school. i will be 29 next month and still need to complete 4 more classes before transferring to a university.
i think it's more beneficial continuing school when you are in your late twenties anyway. you go because you really want to be there and have an interest in learning something. you're more mature and realize you have goals to achieve.
you can begin by taking online classes or evening classes. usually there are more working adults who attend in the evenings.
don't worry about your age. there are people of various ages that go to college from teens to 80 yr olds. i will use my sis-in-law as an example. she is 43 yrs old, a mother of 2 + 3 step kids, works full-time and a wife... she just graduated 2 months ago with her B.A. you can do it and it can happen if you apply yourself.
best of luck to you!

I would suggest taking one night class to get over the "classroom jitters." I think you'll find that you are not the only student who is a little older or has been out of the flow for a while. We're everywhere. Once you've done that, you'll probably also be able to pin down a specific goal for your continued education that will motivate you to continue. If not, maybe it's not really necessary. There are many paths to fulfillment.

You can learn at any age. I know of a man who is 49 and he's going back to school. Don't worry. You can drop the kids at a daycare center and pick them up after school. It's ok to be 30 when you graduate. Stay strong and good luck.

I just heard on the news about a woman in Utah in her 80s who went back to school and earned her degree. You need to make some time for yourself, even when you're home schooling. I earned my PhD when my son was small. When he would say "I don't want to go to school" I'd say neither do I, but I have to go and so do you! It sets a good example for your kids. You can do it a little at a time so you have time for you and for them.

I'm in the process of doing that very thing, going back to school. I only have one child but I am a single parent and I also work full time. Going back is difficult but it's well worth it.
