I was told to put weight on it and stretch it out. It has now been a month and I cant straighten my leg and it seems as if my calve bows to the outside of my body. Theres still a knot in the area of my MCL and slight swelling around the top area of my knee. any opinion would be appreciated as I dont have insurance and havent been able to work either.

Well, you didn't do the stretching often enough...now you have contractures of the ligaments. If you don't get very aggressive with stretching them, they will become permanently shortened. I suggest you find a way to see a physical therapist at least once so they can show you the correct way to do the stretching you need to do and tell you how often, or even if you have permanent contracture and it's too late.
