It pinches when its done, then your toung swells up for like 3 days and all you can eat is mashed potatos and anything of a similar or liquidy texture. If you get it done use listerine ALOT and ice chips are your friend.
The best ice cubes are the square ones with the little dent inthe middle. they can rest right on the toungue without touching the actual piercing...

No im the biggest whimp and i got mine done when i turned 18 im 21 now and i was so scared for the longest time the piercing it self doesnt hurt the swelling afterwards does, but that last a day or 2 and some peoples tounges don't swell, I would go back if mine ever closed and do it again i dont have any other peircing because im so whimpy or tats, so take it however you like

NO it does not hurt to get your tongue done , I have had mine pierced twice on two differ. occasions , but yes a day or so later there will be some swelling and a little pain but nothing a aspirin or vicodin wont take care of , which ever you prefer. You will feel a small pinch when the piercer puts the gage through your tongue which is held with a clamp . the clamp is more uncomfortable than the needle , but neither are painful . I say go for it , It goes quick and you will be surprised how quick it actually was .

But the clamp is a bit uncomfortable.
The tongue is one of the easiest piercings to get done, but the hardest for aftercare.
For about a week, you may be swollen, and it may be difficult to talk. Take care of it and dont over rinse.
DO NOT use listerine full strength. You can get thrush if you do.
water it down 50/50. Rinse 2-3 times a day with mouthwash.. Too much rinsing will cause problems. If tongue looks like a yellow or white carpet, you are cleaning your mouth too much.
For the swelling, take Advil, Motrin or Midol. Anything cold will also help. Popsicles, ice, freezies, etc.)

Mine hurt really bad whenthe did the actual piercing, but later that day I felt okay. hell i even ate a burger...very carefully...LOL...but I ate it, LOL. I recently took mine out cause I think I'm a little too old for it now, but make sure you clean your mouth really good after meals because that food can get caught it the piercing. make sure you rinse two to three times a day with mouth wash and use a tongue scraper. if you do what you're suppose to you will never get an infection. I had mine for about 5 years until a week ago. I'm 30 now and took all my piercing out, LOL. I wanna be a grown up, LOL.

i had mine done 6 yrs ago now and they sprayed my mouth with anastheic so i didnt feel it at all, it hurt afterwoods but i took 2 pain killers and if was fine! remember every body is different! btw dont drink a sugary drink b4 havin it done as it thins ur blood! i made that misstake! good luck oh and mine didnt really swell up at all! just use listerine all the time it may discolour your toungue 4 a bit but wioll go away make sure u clean your teeth properly as many times in the day as u ned 2 and when u c your dentist chane the bar 2 a plastic one that way they cant moan at u!

i had mine pierced in February
the piercing hurts pretty bad, and you are sore for a day or two, but not unbearably sore
take Motrin (use the liquid-gel pills) every 4-6 hours for the pain....rinse in Listerine as much as necessary (it turns your tongue white, but goes away pretty quickly) DO NOT rinse in ANYTHING except Listerine & eat plenty of popcicles or suck on ice chips
you only have to do these things for a couple of days, then its fine!

i'm gonna disagree, i had mine done and it did'n't hurt at all, though it did swell up for a few days and i suffered from a lisp for about two weeks, but it didn't hurt. i've also got my eyebrow and lip done and my lip hurt the most by far! just remember if you get it done not to drink alcohol for about two wweeks, i made this mistake and couldn't speek the next day my toungue was so swollen. it was all worth it though and my b/f seems to appreciate it ;-o

nope I've had mines pierced twice also my private area tounge doesnt hurt only after when u want to eat

It didn't hurt when I got mine. Just make sure you listen to their aftercare instructions!! Or you will be in pain. It will swell up for a couple of days but make sure you gargle after everytime you eat,drink, smoke...or it will get infected. You will have to learn how to eat differently b-cuz what does hurt is when you bite down on it.
