could be false labor pains, or just your body getting ready for labor. Drink lots of water as dehydration often makes the pains worse. Its wise to call your doctor and tell him/her about the pains you are experiencing.

They could be many different things.
Braxton hicks contractions?
Round ligament pain? (lower belly towards the sides)
Baby sitting on something or kicking something?
Sharp pains in vagina may very well be baby sitting on a nerve.
Try doing some pelvic rocking to encourage baby to change positions and make yourself more comfortable. It might help.

I am almost 9 mos pregnant and I have had these same symptoms for the past 3 wks. My baby is head down engaged in my pelvis and I am dilating. Yes it does hurt. I didn't experience this with my last baby. If it is continuous or you are able to time this pain you need to call your dr right away.

It could be the different ways that the baby is positioning itself. Being eight months pregnant it hard enough without any unusual pains. I would check in with your doc as well just to let him/her know what is going on.
Good Luck

Call your OB doctor and talk to the office nurse or call the Labor and Delivery at your hospital and talk to the nurse there.

I got that with my first pregnancy I was dilating. That doesn't mean you are going into labor but it means your closer to your goal of giving birth.

i got them too. it's just your pelvic bone starting to spread to let the baby begin to drop. so get used to them cause they aren't going to go away until you have the baby.
